How do inflamed gums occur?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are always bacteria in our mouths.\nThese bacteria adhere to the surface of your teeth.\nThis is how they form a sticky layer.\nThis layer is called plaque.\nEven if you don’t eat or drink, a layer of plaque forms every day.\nThe bacteria in the plaque can cause inflammation along the edges of your gums.\nThis inflammation is called gingivitis. <\/p>\n


How do you recognize gingivitis?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can easily recognize gingivitis yourself.\nWhen inflamed, your gums are red, swollen, weak and no longer close properly around your teeth.\nIf your gums bleed while brushing, or when using a toothpick or brush, this is an important sign that your gums are inflamed. <\/p>\n


What if you don’t treat gingivitis?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you do not remove plaque sufficiently, your inflamed gums become weaker.\nThe number of bacteria under the edge of your gums increases and the space between your tooth and your gums, the pocket, deepens.\nYour toothbrush can no longer reach the bacteria in the pocket to clean it properly.\nAs a result, the inflammation damages the surrounding tissue, the periodontium.\nThis can lead to a more severe inflammation called periodontitis. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Preventing lasting damage<\/strong><\/p>

To keep your mouth healthy and prevent gingivitis, remove plaque twice a day.\nBrushing properly with a fluoride toothpaste and good toothbrush is the basis.\nIn addition, it is important to properly clean the space between your teeth and gums.\nThis can be done with floss, interdental brushes and toothpicks.\nWe are happy to show you the best way to do that. <\/p>
