During your pregnancy, your teeth and gums are more susceptible to decay and inflammation.
\nWhy?
\nHormone fluctuations make your mouth more prone to inflammation.
\nBetter blood flow during pregnancy also means gums are more likely to bleed. Because you may eat more sweets or eat more frequently during pregnancy, cavities develop more quickly.
\nThere is even evidence that poor oral hygiene before or during your pregnancy can also affect your baby.
\nAll the more reason to have your mouth checked before and during your pregnancy.
