Fresh, radiant and white teeth – that’s what everyone wants, right?
The color of your teeth is determined by genetics. As you age, the color of your teeth changes. This discoloration starts from the inside out. Due to pigments in food and thinner enamel, teeth also gradually become darker in color. Through teeth whitening, you can make your teeth a few shades whiter.
Teeth whitening is not an invasive procedure. We use the at-home whitening method from Boutique Whitening.
You’ll be given a mouthguard and whitening gel to take home and wear for a few hours each day or night to whiten your teeth. Your teeth may become temporarily more sensitive as a result of the whitening process; this is completely normal. Not all teeth are suitable for whitening. For example, crowns and fillings do not whiten.
During your first appointment, we’ll assess whether your teeth are suitable for whitening.
If so, we’ll immediately take impressions of your upper and lower jaws. These impressions are used to create custom whitening trays. These trays fit precisely around your teeth. For new patients at our practice, we offer a free oral exam . That way, you’ll know right away if your gums are healthy!
At the second appointment You’ll receive your whitening trays with the starter kit. Of course, we’ll provide you with all the instructions you need on how to use them. During this appointment, we’ll also give your teeth a light cleaning to remove any stains caused by coffee, tea, smoking, or red wine. This will make the whitening treatment more effective, and you’ll start your whitening treatment with clean, fresh teeth!
The cost of the bleaching treatment is €350.
The custom-made trays are reusable, so that the costs will be significantly lower in the event of any follow-up treatment. Almost all health insurers do not reimburse the costs of teeth whitening.

Having your teeth whitened by a dental hygienist (dentist) is safe. At Kroep Mondzorg, we use the Boutique Whitening at-home whitening method.
The color of your teeth is specific and unique, which is why the final results vary. In general, the result—and how long it lasts—depends on your eating and drinking habits and your oral hygiene. Regular visits to the dental hygienist also help ensure longer-lasting results.
Teeth whitening is available for persons 18 years and older, as teeth must be fully mature before bleaching treatments are performed.
Even if you smoke, you can still have your teeth whitened. However, you should be aware that your teeth may become discolored again sooner if you continue to smoke. At Kroep Mondzorg, we recommend that you do not have your teeth whitened while you are smoking. The effect of the whitening treatment is minimal due to the discoloration caused by smoking.
Tooth discoloration occurs when pigments from food and drink penetrate the dental plaque. This happens, for example, when you drink coffee, tea, or red wine. Smoking is also a cause of discoloration. Discoloration can also result from the enamel becoming thinner due to, for example, wear and tear or exposure to acids. Over time, your teeth will become yellower.
Teeth whitening isn’t suitable for everyone. During a consultation prior to treatment, the dental hygienist can tell you whether your teeth are suitable for whitening. At Kroep Mondzorg, we only recommend teeth whitening when it is safe to do so. We perform the procedure safely and only if your teeth and gums are in good health.
Brush your teeth twice a day and use interdental brushes, toothpicks, or dental floss. Be sure to maintain good oral hygiene. We also recommend that you visit the dental hygienist for a checkup at least twice a year to have your teeth thoroughly cleaned.
You can join us within 2 weeks for an intake interview.
Depending on your eating and drinking habits, your teeth may become discolored again. This discoloration varies greatly from person to person. Ask your dental hygienist for advice on how often to repeat the whitening treatment.
The original color of the bridge or crown does not change as a result of the treatments. The material used for the fillings does not change color during treatment.
The opened package of bleach should be kept in the refrigerator.
